House of Refuge is one of Arizona’s largest transitional housing programs, providing life‑changing housing and support services for homeless families. Established in 1996 on the grounds of the former Williams Air Force Base, the organization offers a structured, supportive environment to help families regain stability and independence. Programs focus on employment and education, financial literacy, health and wellness, life skills, and securing permanent housing.
Team members work collaboratively to empower residents with tools and resources that support long‑term success and self‑sufficiency.
The Case Manager is a full‑time, on‑site role located in San Tan Valley, AZ. This role is responsible for providing direct case management services to residents, including intake assessments, development of individualized service plans, and ongoing progress monitoring. The Case Manager coordinates support across key program areas such as employment, education, financial literacy, health, and housing, while connecting residents to appropriate community resources.
Daily tasks include meeting with clients, maintaining accurate documentation, collaborating with internal staff and external partners, advocating for client needs, and participating in team meetings and program improvement efforts. The Case Manager fosters a respectful, trauma‑informed environment and supports residents in working toward sustainable, permanent housing.
- Experience in social services, case management, or related fields, with skills in client assessment, service planning, and resource coordination.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills, with the ability to build trust and maintain professional boundaries.
- Organizational and time‑management skills, including accurate documentation, data entry, and caseload management.
- Knowledge of community resources, housing programs, employment and education services, and basic financial literacy concepts.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and adapt to changing resident needs and program priorities.
- Commitment to trauma‑informed, culturally responsive, and non‑discriminatory practices when supporting individuals and families.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, case management or client tracking systems).
- Relevant education such as an associate or bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, psychology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Prior experience serving individuals or families facing homelessness, housing instability, or other complex challenges is beneficial.
