Pay: $23.00/hour (DOE)
Schedule:
Full-time, Monday–Friday
Hours:
5 AM – 5 PM (12‑hour shifts)
Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks with front, side, or rear‑end load lift attachments depending on the line of business and the type of truck. They transport material to disposal, transfer, or recycle facilities, provide pick‑up services and operate in congested areas. Residential drivers collect household waste, while roll‑off drivers load and transport large mobile open‑top and compactor containers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Operate vehicle in accordance with Waste Management safety rules, OSHA, DOT, and all applicable regulations.
- Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections and document checks using the DVIR.
- Immediately report unsafe situations, service‑related issues, incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage to Operations Manager or Dispatch.
- Attend all scheduled training, briefings, and meetings as required.
- Work closely with the Operations Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
- Notify the Operations Manager of service interruptions, closed or impassable streets, heavy receptacles, or potential hazards.
- Communicate customer requests to Operations Manager or Dispatch.
- Fully dump receptacles and leave the customer’s location clean and free of debris.
- Follow route assignments and complete end‑of‑day documentation and check‑out processes.
- Assist other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.
Required Qualifications
- 1 year operating a vehicle requiring a CDL.
- 1 year equivalent military driving within the last 7 years.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the country.
- Class A or Class B CDL with an air‑brake endorsement upon hire.
- Must read, write, and speak English well enough to interact with the public and complete records or reports.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED (accredited).
- Standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, talking, hearing.
