Position: Aerial Lineman I

Job Description

Summary:

Are you ready to start a hands‑on career building the networks that keep communities connected? As an Aerial Lineman I – Telecom, you’ll work with a crew to install, maintain, and repair aerial fiber optic and coaxial lines. This entry‑level role focuses on learning and supporting core construction tasks while growing into a skilled telecommunications professional.

What You’ll Do
  • Assist with the installation and maintenance of aerial fiber optic and coaxial cables.
  • Support tasks such as cable lashing, strand placement, and installing pole hardware.
  • Learn and assist with basic fiber splicing and troubleshooting under supervision.
  • Safely use ladders, climbing gear, or bucket trucks to work at heights up to 25–30 feet.
  • Read and follow work orders, maps, and construction prints.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including PPE, traffic control, and fall protection requirements.
  • Participate in training and mentorship to develop technical skills and industry knowledge.
  • Participate in an on‑call rotation schedule, responding to after‑hours service needs or emergency repairs as required.
What You’ll Bring
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record (CDL preferred).
  • 1–2 years of experience in telecom, broadband, or construction preferred.
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical and maintain a valid medical card.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and power tools effectively.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions, travel to project sites as needed, and perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting up to 75 lbs and working at heights.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • OSHA 10 or 30 certification, First Aid/CPR.
    • Fiber/cable construction training certification.
    • Experience with GIS field tools or digital job tracking systems.
