Interim Preaching Pastor

First Baptist Church (FBC) Ark City is seeking a spiritually mature, gospel-centered leader to provide steady pulpit ministry and pastoral care during our season of transition. We are looking for an experienced proclaimer of the Word—either a retired pastor or a seasoned preacher—to shepherd our congregation and maintain our spiritual momentum.

• Timeline:
  Available now (or within 30-60 days) for a 3-6 month term, with potential for extension.
• Capacity:
  Part-time (Sunday mornings + negotiable mid-week hours)
• Location:
  
  220 E Central, Arkansas City, KS 67005
• Note:
  
  The interim candidate will not be considered for the long-term Lead Pastor position.

• Expository Preaching:
  Prepare and deliver biblically sound, gospel-centered sermons for Sunday morning services.
• Ordinances:
  Lead the congregation in the administration of the Lord’s Supper and Baptism.
• Occasional Services:
  Availability to officiate weddings and funerals as the need arises.
• Administrative Support (Optional):
  Provide 5-10 hours/week for staff coordination, office hours, or basic oversight.

We are seeking a leader who embodies the biblical qualifications of an overseer found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, specifically demonstrating gentleness, wisdom, and clarity.

• Experience:
  
  You should be a retired pastor with a proven track record of faithful ministry OR an individual with at least 2-3 years of consistent weekly preaching experience.
• Heart for Transition: A genuine desire to help our church remain healthy, unified, and focused on the Great Commission during this interim period.
• Theological Alignment:
  Candidates must be in full agreement with our values regarding the sufficiency of the Bible, the deity of Jesus Christ, the necessity of Salvation through faith alone, and a life of genuine worship.

  Commensurate with experience
• Travel/Housing:
  Negotiable
• Staff/Leadership:
  The interim pastor reports to the Board of Elders
