Responsibilities and Duties:
Provides direct and individualized nursing care to an assigned group of patients based on the application of scientific principles.
Delegates appropriate tasks to other members of the nursing team consistent with their abilities, certifications and licensures. Monitors need for further care based on findings. Contributes to an individualized plan of care specific to patient care needs.
Documents and executes the physician’s orders as per policy/standards of the facility. Communicates changes in the patient and physician care plan to other nursing staff.
Prepares, administers and records medications in accordance with policy.
Answers patient call lights, anticipates patient’s needs, and makes rounds to assigned patients
Responds and participates in emergency care as required. Responds to emergency situations throughout the hospital as needed.
Complies with all nursing accreditation bodies.
Promotes standard of service to all team members.
Maintains a safe working environment for the staff as well as for the patients and family members.
Participates in discharge planning, admission, and ongoing assessment of the patient. Provides education to the patient/family served.
Performs nursing procedures and interventions safely, efficiently and with technical skill.
Participates in all process improvement activities, adhering to all policies and procedures as they apply to the department.
Attends and supports in-services relevant to position, staff meetings, and hospital wide meetings.
Completes assigned education on time.
Demonstrates support to other team members and nursing staff to create a system of quality care.
Working Conditions:
Works in a patient care area 100% of the time. Job responsibilities require frequent exposure to noise, lighting, and/or temperature levels. Exposure to irritating, unpleasant, or hazardous elements or conditions (i.e. blood, chemicals, and infectious diseases). Subject to varying and unpredictable situations, emergency/crisis situations. Subject to irregular hours (evening, night/weekend/holidays). Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquires.
Qualifications:
Education:
Maintain license by meeting Kansas Licensing Board CEU requirements (30 CEU’s every 2 years).License: RN in the state of Kansas
Certifications:
BLS, ACLS required within 6 months; PALS preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of one year of experience in a like size facility is preferred but not required.
Other:
Must be highly organized, and must be able to work in a team environment. Must be have excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with the physicians, staff and the public.
