Job Description

We are looking for a Tax Manager to join our Salt Lake City office. The role involves delivering tax and business advisory services, tax compliance, and coaching staff while building the firm’s small‑business client base.

Responsibilities
  • Provide tax, accounting, and advisory services to small‑business clients.
  • Oversee accounting, bookkeeping, and financial statement preparation.
  • Review and analyze client accounting records, provide consultation and communicate findings.
  • Deliver best‑in‑class customer service with responsiveness, timeliness, and professionalism.
  • Lead and plan client engagements, evaluate processes, and implement efficiencies and internal controls.
  • Recommend business and process improvements based on client operations and objectives.
  • Manage client relationships, act as liaison, and resolve client issues.
  • Delegate work, set goals, provide resources, remove obstacles, and schedule deadlines.
  • Maintain current knowledge of local, state, and federal tax practices and laws.
  • Assist with client engagement staffing, billings/collections, and ensure profitability targets.
  • Network and build relationships internally and externally.
  • Invest in your professional development and participate in firm‑wide learning programs.
  • Support the growth of team members through coaching and mentoring.
  • Participate in social activities and team outings that encourage work‑life balance.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 4‑year degree.
  • CPA, Law License, or Enrolled Agent.
  • 5+ years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s in accounting (master’s or advanced degree desirable).
  • CPA or JD required.
  • 5+ years providing federal and state tax compliance, accounting, and advisory services in a professional services firm.
  • 2+ years supervisory experience, mentoring and counseling associates.
  • Strong management, analytical, organizational, interpersonal, project management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and supervise, provide client service, commit to continuous learning, see big picture and details, maintain ethical standards, and exhibit urgency and quality.
  • Highly developed software and Microsoft Suite skills.
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. without sponsorship preferred.
Compensation and Benefits

The pay rate range for this position is $90,000 to $126,390. Compensation is influenced by factors such as skills, experience, qualifications, and location. Baker Tilly offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package to eligible employees.
