Accounts Officer

ABOUT THIS ROLE

Are you an experienced accounting professional with strong technical accounting knowledge and a keen eye for detail?

Our client, a well-established organisation in the manufacturing industry based in Avoca, is looking for an Accounts Officer to support a broad range of accounting, financial and administrative functions. Reporting to the Financial Accountant, this role offers exposure across accounts payable, management reporting, taxation, financial planning, reconciliations and general financial administration.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working with multiple priorities, have strong numerical and analytical abilities, and bring a high level of accuracy, confidentiality and professionalism to their work.

• Manage Accounts Payable, including invoice capture, processing and supplier account reconciliations
• Manage and reconcile supplier and transport creditor accounts
• Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts and Board reporting packs
• Support annual audits and the compilation of annual financial statements
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling
• Calculate and coordinate payment of VAT, Income Tax, Dividends Tax, Carbon Tax and Royalty Tax
• Maintain fixed asset and property registers across the business and associated entities
• Perform general ledger reconciliations, including fixed assets and intercompany accounts
• Manage petty cash balances and conduct relevant reviews
• Assist with the administration of lease agreements and insurance matters
• Act as an authorised bank signatory for the business and associated entities

• Postgraduate qualification in Finance
• 2–4 years’ relevant management experience within an accounting environment
• Experience gained after completing articles will be advantageous
• Strong practical understanding of accounting practices and financial management
• Comprehensive knowledge of South African income tax, VAT and applicable tax legislation
• Advanced MS Office and Excel skills
• Experience with in a financial environment and familiarity with financial systems such as JDE
• Strong financial modelling and spreadsheet skills, including advanced Excel/macros
• Excellent numerical ability and meticulous attention to detail
• Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with a high level of integrity and confidentiality
