General
Summary:
The Attendance Clerk minimizes the interruptions and dislocations caused by faulty attendance in the education of each student and ensures that no student enrolled in the District gains less than full advantage from the educational opportunities as a result of attendance problems.
- Keeps daily attendance sheets.
- Confers with parents on daily absences and makes home calls when necessary.
- Keeps tardiness records.
- Investigates attendance problems reported by others.
- Provides attendance information to the counselors and principal.
- Carries out the school's policy on truancy.
- Maintains a file on all referrals and action taken.
- Refers to student services director cases of chronic absenteeism, tardiness, or truancy.
- Informs the social workers of the attendance patterns of chronic offenders.
- Attends family court when cases are presented, as required.
- Maintains failure list of students' failure due to excessive unexcused absences.
- Send drop notices to student services director, counselors, registrar, teachers, and principal.
- Fill out DHS, social security, child support, and driver's license forms.
- Assists teachers with "no shows" and "truants" in their class.
- Records absences and attendance by periods.
- Maintains master list of absentees.
- Assists with registration, enrollment, and drop paperwork.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or the Superintendent's designee.
- High School Diploma or Associates Degree.
- Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
