PRIMARY

PURPOSE:

Assist the school principal in the overall administration of instructional programs and campus-level operations. Coordinate assigned student activities and services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

Master's Degree
Arkansas Mid-Management Certification or the new Standard Principal Certificate or other appropriate
Arkansas certificate
The Arkansas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (TESS)
Valid Arkansas teaching certificate

Special Knowledge/

Skills:

Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Thorough understanding of school administrative operations
Demonstration of leadership skills in the present assignment
Demonstrates effective use of current technology skills
Ability to coordinate campus support operations

Experience:

Three years of experience as a classroom teacher

MAJOR

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Instructional Management and PLC Leadership
Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs aligned to campus goals.
Lead and support PLC processes, with specific responsibility for building capacity and consistency among elective teachers.
Monitor PLC implementation to ensure instructional alignment, data utilization, common expectations, and accountability.
Support teachers in analyzing student data and implementing instructional adjustments.
Encourage and support innovative instructional practices, assisting teachers in piloting and refining strategies.
Promote effective integration of technology in teaching and learning.

School Improvement & Accountability

School/Organizational Climate
Promote a positive, safe, and structured learning environment for all students and staff.
Deal sensitively and fairly with all students and families from diverse backgrounds.
Communicate clearly and consistently with students, staff, and families regarding expectations and procedures.
Serve as administrator in charge in the principal's absence.
Serve as Campus Testing Coordinator, collaborating with the campus testing team to plan and implement all state and district assessments.

Personnel Management
Observe employee performance, document observations, and conduct evaluation conferences aligned with TESS.
Support and monitor staff expectations related to student supervision, classroom management, and PLC participation.
Assist the principal in interviewing, selecting, onboarding, and mentoring new staff.

Administration, Operations, and Facilities
Supervise daily operations in the principal's absence.
Assist in planning schedules, assignments, and extracurricular activities to support instructional priorities.
Supervise student attendance reporting and work with attendance personnel on follow-up and interventions.
Assist with budget development and monitoring based on documented instructional and operational needs.
Coordinate requisitioning and inventory of supplies, textbooks, and equipment.
Assist with safety inspections, emergency drills, and campus preparedness.
Coordinate transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other support services.
Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, and board policy

Student Management
Serve as a primary administrator for student discipline, ensuring consistent implementation of campus behavior expectations.
Help develop, implement, and monitor a clear, equitable, and proactive student discipline management system.
Ensure school rules and expectations are uniformly enforced across all classrooms and settings, including electives and non-instructional areas.
Conduct student and parent conferences related to behavior, attendance, and discipline.
Ensure adequate supervision of students during non-instructional periods and school events.
Collaborate with staff to reduce repeat discipline issues through intervention, monitoring, and follow-up.

Professional Growth and Development

Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for
classroom teachers.
Participate in professional development to improve skills related to job assignments.

School/Community Relations
Articulate the school's mission to the community and solicit its support in realizing its mission.
Demonstrate awareness of school-community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs.
Utilize effective techniques to foster community and parent involvement.

Perform other duties assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Share supervisory responsibility for professional staff with the school principal. Supervise teachers, paraprofessionals, clerical personnel, and other assigned personnel.
