Location: College City
Position Overview
Engineering Instructor (Part-Time Faculty Pool) at Fresno City College.
Essential Functions- Teach a part‑time schedule of Engineering courses as assigned.
- Use a variety of pedagogies and integrate innovative technology for face‑to‑face, online, and hybrid formats.
- Communicate effectively with students, faculty and staff.
- Apply effective teaching methods appropriate to the subject matter and adhere to institutionally approved curriculum outlines.
- Evaluate student progress through examinations, written assignments, oral responses, etc. in keeping with course objectives.
- Provide course syllabi and maintain classroom records in accordance with District Policy.
- Submit all required student grading and evaluation reports on time.
- Teach assignments in a variety of instructional settings and times, as needed.
- Perform all other duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of diverse students, and commitment to equity‑mindful practice.
- Master’s degree in any field of engineering; or Bachelor's in engineering with a master's in mathematics, physics, computer science, chemistry or geology; or a valid California Community College Credential; or equivalent education/experience with proven equivalency.
- Alternative qualification:
Bachelor’s in engineering with a professional engineer’s license.
- Experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into all areas of responsibility.
- Recent experience working with under‑represented students in the classroom.
- Willingness to examine and remediate instructional practices to better engage racially minoritized students.
- Related work and professional experience.
- Experience working with students of diverse cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds and students with disabilities.
- Experience with traditionally under‑represented populations, such as students of color and foster youth.
- Skilled in facilitating multicultural and cross‑cultural communication.
- Experience with under‑prepared and high‑need community‑college students.
- Ability to collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance instruction, curriculum, and student support.
- Technical proficiency with computers and instructional technologies.
- Effective communication with students and staff.
- Knowledge of current assessment methods and materials.
- Knowledge of the community‑college mission and goals.
- Part‑time faculty start on step one of the Part‑time Faculty Salary Schedule.
- Salary classification based on education and experience per the Part‑time Faculty Salary Classifications.
- Sick leave accrual based on assignment hours.
The selection and hiring process for part‑time faculty positions is governed by the hiring department. Candidates will be contacted directly by the department if hired. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis and candidates will be placed in a continuous pool for up to 18 months.
