WORK SCHEDULE: Per 190 contracted days
POSITION SUMMARYUnder the supervision of the Principal, the secondary teacher supports instruction by helping students learn subject matter and skills that foster development as mature, capable, and responsible individuals. The teacher directs students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Communicate, collaborate, and cooperate with colleagues, supervisors, parents, and students in a professional manner.
- Teach Jessieville School District’s approved curriculum.
- Be prepared to instruct all assigned classes at the designated time and place.
- Plan programs of study, lesson plans, and instructional materials that meet students’ individual needs, interests, and abilities.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning appropriate to students’ maturity and abilities.
- Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided, the needs, and capabilities of the individual or student groups involved.
- Assess the academic and social growth of students on a regular basis, keeping accurate records, and preparing progress reports as required.
- Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
- Identify student needs, make appropriate referrals, and develop strategies for individual education plans.
- Communicate regularly with parents via web‑based reporting sites, newsletters, notes, phone calls, and conferences.
- Plan and coordinate the work of paraprofessionals, parents, and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips.
- Create an environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, interest centers, and exhibits of student work.
- Adhere to all rules and regulations as stated in the Jessieville School District Personnel Policies Handbook.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor, Principal, or Superintendent.

EDUCATION
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited educational institution with endorsements in the areas of the teaching assignment. Other requirements per job description.
EXPERIENCE
One (1) year of successful experience with Highly Qualified designation status is preferred. Other requirements per job description.
CERTIFICATES & LICENSES
Valid Arkansas certificate/license or alternate certificate/license compliant with ADE requirements to meet the position’s essential duties and responsibilities.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Ability to apply basic computer programs (spreadsheet, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, others) to enhance job performance. (Others could include APSCN, HAC/TAC, NWEA)
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
