Location: College City
Graphic Communications Instructor (Part‑Time)
The role requires a commitment to educating a racially and socioeconomically diverse student population. The instructor will provide instruction in Graphic Communications on the Fresno City College campus and/or at off‑site community campus locations.
Responsibilities- Provide lecture and laboratory instruction in Graphic Communications at any vocational level taught at the community college.
- Conduct classes, maintain labs, manage equipment inventory, prepare classes, hold office hours, and evaluate and advise students.
- Maintain professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the position and stay current in teaching graphic communications.
- Perform assignments in a variety of instructional settings and times, including evening and/or weekend, online or off‑campus, and large group instruction as needed.
- Carry out any additional duties and responsibilities required by Administrative Regulation 7122.
- A bachelor’s degree AND two years of directly related professional experience.
- OR an associate degree AND six years of directly related professional experience.
- OR a valid California Community College credential.
- OR equivalent education and/or experience (equivalency required).
All candidates must demonstrate responsiveness to and understanding of diverse backgrounds of community college students within an equity‑minded classroom.
Desirable Qualifications- Proficiency in graphic aesthetics and marketing.
- Proficiency with Apple Mac and Microsoft Windows operating systems using Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Experience with Photoshop, Lightroom, InDesign, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Animate, After Effects, and Acrobat.
- Willingness to maintain currency in the field of graphics.
- Effective oral and written communication and ability to build relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administration.
- Ability to develop curriculum focused on student learning outcomes.
- Community college teaching experience.
- Experience working with African American, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students.
- Willingness to examine and adapt instructional and relational practices to engage and support racially minoritized students.
- Experience addressing equity issues in the classroom.
- Potential to contribute to institutional vitality and growth.
- Knowledge of the community college and its missions and goals.
Starting rates are $45.49 – $61.78 for lecture and $38.67 – $52.55 for lab. Sick leave accrual is based on assignment hours.
