Terms of Employment
  • Minimum 190 day contract, may be extended based on assignment or added responsibilities.
  • District salary schedule based on education and experience.
  • FLSA Status: EXEMPT.
  • 10 days Sick Leave per year of employment.
  • 3 days Personal Leave per year of employment.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate major or course of study from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Arkansas teaching license for the grade level or subject area assigned.
  • Pass all required criminal background checks at personal expense.
  • Meet Highly Qualified Teacher designation requirements if applicable.
  • Ability to perform duties while following district policies as well as state and federal regulations, guidelines, and laws.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret printed instructions, professional handbooks, bulletins, announcements, etc.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships and collaborate with students, peers, and parents.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal directions or instructions.
  • Demonstrate skill in written and oral communication, including presenting information and responding to questions from students, administrators, staff, and the public.
  • Demonstrate adequate computer skills, including Internet research, data entry, grade reporting, etc.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Direct the learning experiences of students to meet planned instructional objectives.
  • Teach district approved curriculum based on guidelines established by the school district, state frameworks, and federal regulations.
  • Prepare for assigned classes by developing lesson plans and instructional materials.
  • Show evidence of preparation upon request and translate lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques using instructional media when available and appropriate.
  • Evaluate pupils’ academic growth through teacher-made tests, standardized tests, checklists, observations, demonstrations, and other performance assessments; keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports.
  • Identify pupil needs, make appropriate referrals, and develop strategies to support students with an IEP or any other needed accommodation.
  • Make modifications for G/T, ELL, LD, physically impaired, at‑risk, and other needs of individual students, including their learning styles.
  • Collaborate with staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods; assist in selecting learning materials and instructional equipment.
  • Develop and maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
  • Maintain accurate, complete records as required by district policy or law.
  • Supervise the proper use of learning materials and instructional equipment.
  • Be available to students and parents for educational purposes during the instructional day and extended hours when necessary.
  • Take reasonable measures to maintain a safe and orderly environment to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Assist in implementing all policies and rules governing student conduct; develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and professional development activities.
  • Communicate regularly with internal and external publics to maintain a positive school/community relationship.
  • Support and attend extra‑curricular activities when possible (e.g., PTA/PTO, sporting and cultural events).
  • Maintain acceptable attendance and punctuality.
  • Maintain high moral values by following state and local laws, rules, guidelines, and standards, and the Arkansas Code of Ethics for Educators.
  • Maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Follow and implement all district policies and state and federal law or guidelines.
  • Accept and respond to supervision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by administration.
Physical Demands

The employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear, and sometimes walk and sit. The employee may occasionally push or lift 50 lbs such as boxes of books and Chromebook carts. Specific vision abilities required include close vision to read handwritten or typed material and the ability to adjust focus.
