VOCATIONAL TEACHER

JOB DESCRIPTION

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • 240 day contract
  • Job Type: Licensed Teacher.
  • Reports to:

    Campus Principal or Designee.
  • Salary based on district Licensed Salary Schedule.
  • FLSA Status:
    Exempt.
  • 12 days sick leave per year of employment.
  • 10 days vacation per year of employment.
  • 3 days personal leave per year of employment.
  • PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Current or pending Arkansas Department of Education teaching license for the grade level and/or subject area assigned. Hold any certifications or endorsements required to teach the assigned vocational subject matter.
  • CASE Certification or willingness to get CASE certification is REQUIRED.
  • Must possess knowledge in all areas of responsibility as well as law and local policy.
  • Must be computer literate with at least the ability to send and receive email with attachments, produce memos, navigate the internet as required by position responsibilities, accurately complete and submit forms or reports as required, etc.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend written instructions, policies, and procedures.
  • Must be attentive to details, a self-starter, able to work effectively without constant or direct supervision. Must be able to multi-task.
  • Must be of good moral character; strictly adhere to the Code of Ethics for Arkansas Educators.
  • Must have good communication and organizational skills.
  • GENERAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (but not limited to)
  • Maintain professional behavior, appearance, and work ethic to represent the school district in a positive manner at all times.
  • Demonstrate relentless commitment to the academic achievement of all students.
  • Teach agriculture classes as assigned based on the needs of the students and the Ag Department.
  • Prepare and evaluate teaching schedule, curriculum, and teaching calendars.
  • Conduct field trips, both in and out of district.
  • Prepare teaching plans, demonstration plans, and teaching materials for all classes.
  • Maintain data in the student grading system as required by the building procedures.
  • Supervised Agricultural Experience Program (SAE).
  • Visit students’ SAE projects.
  • Assist students in keeping SAE records.
  • Assist students in exhibiting livestock projects at fairs and shows.
  • REQUIRED TECHNICAL TRAINING/SKILLS FFA
  • Serves as co-advisor for the FFA chapter.
  • Attend with FFA activities at the local, area, district, and state levels in coordination with students.
  • Prepare and train FFA contest teams and entries.
  • Assist students in preparing applications for proficiency awards, state and American Degrees, etc.
  • Assist students in conducting a public relations program for the local FFA chapter and agriculture department.
  • OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Coordinate maintain inventories and keep a record of the agriculture equipment and supplies.
    • Work with the department teacher(s) to purchase supplies and equipment for the Ag department following district procurement procedures.
    • Inventory the supplies and equipment of the agriculture program annually.
    • Cooperate in maintaining, planning, and improving the physical facilities of the agriculture department.
    • Handle and process fundraising proceeds according to district policy and procedure.
    • Assume responsibility for assigned non-teaching duties.
    • Attend regularly scheduled department, campus, and district meetings.
    • Perform other duties as required or assigned by the principal or designee.
    SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS and/or REQUIREMENTS

    Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to meet the requirements of the job based on grade level, nature of the teaching assignment along with any associated supervisory duties that may be assigned (i.e. cafeteria duty, playground duty, bus duty, etc.) Must be able to see up close and at a distance. Must have the dexterity to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job.
