Welding Instructor (Part-Time Faculty Pool) – Fresno City College

Fresno City College (FCC) is a Hispanic-Serving Institution that enrolls over 24,000 students, with 54% Latinx, 10% Asian/Pacific Islander, 5% Black/African American, 23% White, 1% American Indian/Alaska Native, and 6% multiracial. The successful candidate will join a department dedicated to curriculum responsive to a diverse student population.

• Developing curriculum for and instructing in the metals fabrication/welding technology program, including student learning outcomes and assisting in program coordination to improve student learning.
• Instruction in oxygen‑acetylene and plasma cutting, SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, manual and semi‑ and automatic equipment.
• Teaching assignments in a variety of instructional settings and times, including evening and/or weekends, online or off‑campus and large‑group instruction classes as needed.
• Otherwise fulfilling all duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122.

• Hold a bachelor’s degree and two years of directly related professional experience, or
• Hold an associate degree and six years of directly related professional experience, or
• Hold a valid California Community College Credential, or
• Have equivalent education and/or experience (requires equivalency).

All candidates must demonstrate responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, and apply equity‑minded practices within the classroom.

• Skills equivalent to a certified welder in SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, and FCAW.
• Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Expected ability to use the district’s learning management system for classes, grading, and attendance.
• Experience with the welding certification program.
• Experience working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Relevant work and professional experience at the community college level.
• Recent experience with African American, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students, and understanding of historical patterns of exclusion.
• Willingness to examine and re‑mediate instructional and classroom practices to support racially minoritized students.
• Experience and skill in addressing equity issues in the classroom.
• Potential for contribution to institutional vitality and growth.
• Knowledge of the community college mission and goals.

Starting rates are $45.49–$61.78 per hour for lecture, $38.67–$52.55 per hour for lab, and $38.30–$52.05 per hour for non‑instructional assignments. Sick leave accrual is based on assignment hours.
