Disabled Student Program & Services (DSP&S) Learning Disabilities Specialist (Part‑Time Faculty Pool)

- Administer learning disability (LD) assessments using WAIS‑IV, WJ‑III & IV, and WRAT‑4 batteries to determine student eligibility.
- Evaluate verification of disability documentation, identify functional limitations, and arrange appropriate and reasonable accommodations addressing those limitations.
- Facilitate accommodations such as note taking, adapted equipment, and testing accommodations.
- Maintain confidential records and accurately complete data entry needed for mandated reports and service records.
- Develop curriculum and instruct educational assistance classes focused on students with learning disabilities.
- Participate in and assist with in‑service training for faculty, staff, and community partners.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of diverse student backgrounds and equity‑mind set.
- Master’s degree in learning disabilities, special education, education, psychology, speech‑language pathology, communication disorders, educational or school psychology, counseling or rehabilitation counseling; or equivalent.
- 15 semester units of upper‑division graduate study in learning disabilities, or equivalent.
- A valid California Community College Credential, or equivalency.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to student diversity.
- Experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion in responsibilities.
- Recent experience working with racially minoritized student groups.
- Willingness to examine and improve practices for supporting minoritized students.
- Related professional experience.
- Experience with students of varied cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and disability backgrounds.
- Proficiency with computers and technologies used in instruction and support.
- Effective communication with students and staff.
- Knowledge of community‑college mission and goals.
- Experience conducting LD testing/assessment for DSP&S eligibility.
- Eligibility for completion of the California Community College Chancellor’s Office Learning Disabilities Eligibility and Services Model Training.
- Experience entering assessment data into the Chancellor’s Office CARS‑W database.
- Knowledge and interpretation experience with WAIS‑IV and WJ‑III batteries.
- Instructional knowledge for learning‑disabled adults in reading, spelling, written language skills, and strategies.
- Understanding of behaviors related to specific learning disabilities.
- Ability to use technology for data collection and analysis for student success.
- Collaborative work with faculty in academic divisions.
- Part‑time faculty placed on step one of the Part‑time Faculty Salary Schedule.
- Salary classification based on education and experience as outlined in the Schedule.
- Sick leave accrual based on assignment hours.
