Paralegal Instructor (Part-Time Faculty Pool) – Fresno City College, Fresno, CA
OverviewFresno City College seeks an equity‑minded leader to provide part‑time instruction in Paralegal. Applicants will join a continuous pool; vacancies arise as needed.
Essential Functions- Teach a part‑time schedule of Paralegal courses as assigned.
- Use a variety of pedagogies and integrate technology in face‑to‑face, online, and hybrid formats.
- Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
- Apply institutionally approved curriculum outlines.
- Assess student progress through tests, examinations, written and oral assignments.
- Provide course syllabi to students.
- Maintain classroom records in accordance with District Policy.
- Submit all grading and evaluation reports promptly.
- Teach in a variety of instructional settings and times as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned under Administrative Regulation 7122.
- Evidence of responsiveness to diverse student backgrounds and commitment to equity‑minded practice.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher and two years of directly related professional experience; or
- Associate degree and six years of directly related professional experience; or
- A valid California Community College Credential; or
- Equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency petition).
Note: Degrees must match the criteria listed above.
- Experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion in professional responsibilities.
- Recent experience working with racially minoritized students and understanding historical exclusion patterns.
- Willingness to examine and improve instructional, relational, and classroom practices.
- Experience with multicultural communication and sensitivity to diverse student backgrounds.
- Ability to work with computers and instructional technologies.
- Effective communication with students and staff.
- Knowledge of current assessment methods and materials.
- Understanding of community college mission and goals.
- Newly hired part‑time faculty will be placed on step 1 of the Part‑Time Faculty Salary Schedule.
- Salary classification based on education and experience as outlined in the Part‑Time Faculty Salary Classifications.
- Sick leave accrual based on assignment hours.
The hiring department reviews the continuous pool when vacancies arise. There is no closing date; applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. Selected candidates may have start dates that vary. Unselected candidates may have their application remain on file for 18 months; a new application is required thereafter.
