Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the School Principal, the applicant will facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district‑approved curriculum; document teaching and student progress, activities, and outcomes; address specific educational needs of individual students and create a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and provide feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.

Teaching

Responsibilities
  • Develop and administer middle school curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
  • Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and translate lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize the available time for instruction.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning, and modify instructional methods to fit individual students' needs, including students with special needs; conduct individual and small group instruction as needed.
  • Instruct students in the principles of responsible citizenship and other subject matters specified in applicable laws, as well as administrative regulations and procedures of the school system.
  • Continue to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
  • Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record‑keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
  • Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents.
  • Ensure that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies and establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
  • Coordinate with other middle school professional staff members to evaluate and assess curriculum and participate in faculty meetings and committees.
  • Select and requisition appropriate books, instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintain inventory records.
  • Supervise students in activities that take place outside of the classroom during the school day, including activities involving school transportation.
  • Administer standardized tests in accordance with District testing programs.
  • Participate in and support a positive school culture through the Professional Learning Community process.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to shift from on‑site to virtual learning through implementation of a blended learning model of instruction.
  • Use standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
Assistant Baseball Coach Responsibilities
  • Assist in the coordination and supervision of the baseball program and team.
  • Help students achieve gains in athletic skill and team performance.
  • Assist in designing a training program and game program.
  • Assist in organizing and supervising the coaching staff to assure that the program is properly implemented.
  • Assume duties of the Head Coach if required to do so.
  • Attend Arkansas State Activities Association (AAA) rules meetings, and adhere to rules and regulations of AAA.
  • Assist in the development of team rules, communicating them to the players and their parents, and equitably enforce them.
  • Maintain good public relations for the baseball program.
  • Ensure that student athletes meet eligibility rules.
  • Ensure that student athletes adhere to training rules, lettering policies, grade requirements, and rules of behavior.
  • Ensure the continual supervision of student athletes on the field, in conditioning, and in the locker and shower rooms.
