Spanish Instructor (Part-Time Faculty Pool)

Fresno City College is looking for a part‑time Spanish instructor to join a continuous applicant pool. The successful candidate will be an equity‑minded educator committed to serving a diverse student body and will collaborate with faculty, staff, and community partners to close equity gaps.

• Teach part‑time Spanish courses as assigned.
• Use a variety of pedagogies and integrate technology for face‑to‑face, online, and hybrid modalities.
• Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
• Apply effective teaching methods aligned with institutionally approved curricula.
• Evaluate student progress using tests, examinations, written assignments, oral responses, etc., in accordance with course objectives.
• Provide course syllabi and maintain classroom records per District Policy.
• Submit all required student grading and evaluation reports promptly.
• Teach in various instructional settings and times, including special occasions as needed.
• Pursue all additional duties and responsibilities required of instructors per Administrative Regulation 7122.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

• Evidence of responsiveness to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community‑college students, demonstrating equity‑minded practice.
• Master’s degree in Spanish; or
  • Bachelor’s in Spanish and a Master’s in another language or linguistics;
  • Valid California Community College Credential;
  • Equivalent education and/or experience (requiring an equivalency).
• If degrees do not match the exact wording above, petition for an equivalency.

• Experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into instruction.
• Recent classroom experience with African American, Asian/Pacific Islander, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students.
• Willingness to examine and improve instructional practices to support racially minoritized students.
• Professional experience working with diverse student populations, including students with disabilities, foster youth, and under‑represented groups.
• Ability to facilitate multicultural and cross‑cultural communication with sensitivity.
• Familiarity with high‑needs students at the community‑college level.
• Collaboration skills with faculty, staff, and community partners to enhance instruction and student success.
• Computer proficiency and use of technology to support high‑quality instruction and student support.
• Effective communication skills with students and staff.
• Knowledge of current assessment methods and materials.
• Understanding of the community‑college mission and goals.

Newly hired part‑time faculty will be placed at Step One (1) of the Part‑Time Faculty Salary Schedule, with classifications based on education and experience. Sick leave accrual is based on assignment hours. Additional details are available in the SCCCD & SCFT Part‑Time Faculty Agreement.
