Film Instructor (Part‑Time Faculty Pool) – Fresno City College, Fresno, CA.
OverviewFresno City College, a Hispanic‑Serving Institution, seeks an equity‑minded instructor to teach part‑time Film courses. The successful candidate will support a diverse student body that is 60 % Latinx, 11 % Asian/Pacific Islander, 5 % Black/African American, 20 % White, and 1 % American Indian/Alaska Native. The instructor will collaborate with faculty, staff, and community partners to foster culturally responsive teaching and learning environments.
Essential Functions of Position- Teach a part‑time schedule of Film courses as assigned.
- Employ diverse pedagogies and technology for face‑to‑face, online, or hybrid formats.
- Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
- Apply approved curriculum outlines and teach in accordance with institutional standards.
- Assess student progress through tests, examinations, written assignments, and oral responses.
- Provide course syllabi and maintain classroom records per District Policy.
- Submit grading and evaluation reports promptly.
- Adapt to varied instructional settings and times, including additional classes as needed.
- Fulfill all duties mandated by Administrative Regulation 7122.
- Perform other duties related to instruction as assigned.
- Evidence of responsiveness to diverse student backgrounds and equity‑minded practice.
- Master’s degree in Film/Cinema and Media Studies, Film, Television, and Media Studies, Drama/Theater, Mass Communication, or a Bachelor’s degree in any of those fields plus a Master’s in Visual Studies, Media Studies, English, or Communication.
- A valid California Community College Credential.
- Equivalent education and/or experience (requiring an equivalency petition if degrees do not match exactly).
- Experience embedding diversity, equity, and inclusion across responsibilities.
- Recent work with racially minoritized students and an understanding of historical exclusion patterns.
- Willingness to examine and improve instructional and relational practices for minority students.
- Broad work with students of varied cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds, including those with disabilities.
- Experience with under‑prepared and high‑need community‑college students.
- Ability to collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance instruction and student success.
- Proficiency with computers and instructional technologies.
- Strong communication skills with students and staff.
- Knowledge of current assessment methods and materials.
- Familiarity with the community‑college mission and goals.
- Placed on step one of the Part‑Time Faculty Salary Schedule based on education and experience.
- Sick leave accrual tied to assignment hours.

Part‑time faculty positions are filled through continuous recruitment. Applications are reviewed by hiring department members when vacancies arise. Applicants will be placed in an ongoing pool; start dates may vary. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis for a 18‑month period.
