Humanities Instructor (Part-Time Faculty Pool)

Begins upon appointment.

• Teach a part‑time schedule of Humanities courses as assigned.
• Employ a variety of pedagogical approaches and integrate technology in face‑to‑face, online, and hybrid formats.
• Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
• Utilize established curriculum guides and course outlines.
• Assess student progress through tests, examinations, written assignments, and oral responses.
• Provide course syllabi and maintain classroom records in accordance with District Policy.
• Submit all required grading and evaluation reports promptly.
• Teach in various instructional settings and times, including as needed.
• Fulfill all duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Understands the importance of holding educators accountable for closing equity gaps and engaging in equitable practices.
• Reframes inequities as a problem of practice and views the elimination of inequities as a collective responsibility.
• Encourages positive race-consciousness and embraces human difference.
• Supports institutional practices that develop and sustain culturally responsive teaching environments.
• Strategically builds support for and participation in equity‑related initiatives across internal and external communities.

• Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
• Either:
• Master’s in Humanities.
• Valid California Community College Credential.
• The equivalent education and/or experience (equivalency required if transcripts differ).

• Experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into all responsibilities.
• Recent experience working with racially minoritized students and understanding historical exclusion patterns.
• Willingness to examine and remediate instructional practices to better engage racially minoritized students.
• Related work and professional experience in multicultural communication and support for traditionally underrepresented students.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff to enhance instruction and student success.
• Proficiency with computers and technologies used in high‑quality instruction.
• Knowledge of current assessment methods and materials.
• Knowledge of the community college mission and goals.

• Part‑time faculty placed on step one of the Part‑time Faculty Salary Schedule.
• Salary classification based on education and experience as outlined in the salary schedule.
• Sick leave accrual based on assignment hours.
