ESL Instructor

The ESL (English as a Second Language) Instructor is responsible for providing effective, engaging, and student-centered instruction to adult learners seeking to improve their English language skills. The instructor will deliver lessons in reading, writing, listening, and speaking while incorporating cultural and workforce readiness components. This role requires creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment for a diverse group of learners with varying language proficiency levels and educational backgrounds.

Qualifications of Employment:
Bachelor's degree in TESOL, Education, English, or a related field. Experience teaching ESL to adult learners or in a similar instructional role. Proficiency in using educational software and digital tools for instruction.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Instructional Delivery:
  Plan and implement lessons aligned with the needs of English language learners (ELLs) and program standards. Deliver instruction in core language skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Incorporate real-world contexts such as workplace readiness, life skills, and digital literacy into lessons. Use a variety of instructional strategies and technologies to engage students and accommodate different learning styles.
• Assessment and Progress Monitoring:
  Administer assessments such as TABE CLAS-E or other ESL assessments to determine placement and monitor progress. Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments, and student progress. Provide regular feedback to students on their performance and areas for improvement.
• Classroom Management:
  Foster a respectful and inclusive classroom environment that supports active learning and collaboration. Manage classroom dynamics to ensure all students feel valued and supported. Encourage student participation and consistent attendance.
• Student Support:
  Provide one-on-one or small-group instruction to address specific student needs. Guide students in setting and achieving personal and academic goals. Connect students to additional resources such as tutoring, community services, or workforce programs.
• Collaboration and Professional Development:
  Work with program staff to align ESL instruction with program goals and community needs. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay informed about best practices in ESL instruction. Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum, share resources, and solve challenges.

Working Conditions:
