Job Summary / Purpose

The training specialist collaborates with field personnel to assess performance needs and design appropriate training solutions. They provide safety, operations, and maintenance training for Power Generation staff, develop and deliver training courses, and manage all phases of the ADDIE model within the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) framework.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Work with customers to identify training needs and priorities for maintenance and technical training.
  • Conduct research, surveys, interviews, and focus groups to analyze operational and maintenance training requirements.
  • Develop, edit, and update classroom training materials and curricula for Power Generation operations.
  • Solicit and respond to feedback on content, delivery, and training processes.
  • Schedule, deliver, teach, and facilitate multi-skilled training courses, including simulator training on CCCT and fundamentals of CCCT, instrumentation, electrical, and mechanical maintenance practices.
  • Apply evaluation models such as Kirkpatrick’s model to assess training effectiveness.
  • Develop or update training courses and certification processes for new and existing personnel.
  • Maintain course history and apply ADDIE or other development models as required.
  • Collaborate with business partners to review and update training, operating, and maintenance procedures.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of technical writing processes and systems.
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma required, or equivalent.
  • Travel up to 75% to support field locations in Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Louisiana.
  • Effective communication across various mediums and styles.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to integrate into diverse teams.
  • Working knowledge of LMS and SharePoint, or ability to learn.
Experience
  • Multi Skilled Tech Training Specialist: 6+ years of power generation or related industry experience without a degree, or 5+ years with a degree.
  • Multi Skilled Tech Training Specialist, Sr: 8+ years of industry experience without a degree, or 5+ years with a degree.
  • Multi Skilled Tech Training Specialist, Sr Staff: 12+ years of industry experience without a degree, or 5+ years with a degree.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Proficient in managing and developing training curricula using the ADDIE model.
  • Ability to integrate training solutions into business processes.
  • Knowledge of combustible turbine and auxiliaries, generators, CCCT systems, and steam thermodynamics.
  • Familiarity with Adobe suite, word processing, desktop publishing, content management, and revision control.
Operations Skills
  • Combustion Turbine and associated auxiliaries.
  • Generator and associated auxiliaries.
  • CCCT knowledge and associated equipment.
  • Understanding of steam physical properties as they relate to Power Generation.
Maintenance Skills
  • Instrumentation and Controls: installation, calibration, and troubleshooting of industrial process instruments and control system integration.
  • Electrical: installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of high, medium, and low voltage power systems, switch gear, power distribution centers, motor control centers, and associated equipment.
  • Mechanical: installation, operation, and maintenance of pumps, valves, combustion turbines, steam turbines, compressors, and other mechanical equipment, with welding skills highly desired.
