General
Summary:
The Secondary Paraprofessional will assist the teachers to achieve teaching objectives by working with individual students or small groups to help them achieve the skill levels of the class as a whole and assists the teacher in maintaining appropriate classroom activities and environment so that students may learn effectively.
- Administers, scores, and records achievement and diagnostic tests as the teacher recommends for individual students.
- Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills introduced by the teacher.
- Assists the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on individual student needs, interests, and abilities.
- Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes.
- Helps students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher.
- Distributes and collects workbooks, papers, and other materials for instruction.
- Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work assigned by the teacher.
- Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.
- Keeps bulletin board and other classroom learning displays up-to-date.
- Reads to students, listens to students read, and participates in other forms of oral communication with students.
- Assists with large group activities such as drill work, reading aloud, and storytelling.
- Assists students in the library.
- Checks notebooks, correct papers, and supervise testing and make-up work assigned by the teacher.
- Alerts the teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student.
- Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of certified teachers.
- Participates in in-service training programs, as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Superintendent or the Superintendent's designee.
- Two years of college or Associates Degree.
- Good communication skills.
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary: $18,413 to $22,213 Per Year
