Location: College City
Construction Instructor (Part‑Time Faculty Pool) – Fresno City College, campus location Fresno City College. The ideal candidate shares FCC’s commitment to educating a racially and socioeconomically diverse student population.
Responsibilities- Complete training to become an NCCER certified instructor.
- Enter data into the NCCER data bank for each student.
- Deliver classroom instruction using the assigned textbook.
- Provide hands‑on lab instruction related to each textbook chapter.
- Manage materials and equipment orderly.
- Coordinate with onsite construction classes and instructors as required.
- Prepare all documents necessary to obtain permits prior to the beginning of a project.
- Supervise students during hands‑on projects.
- Coordinate the scheduling of subcontractors.
- Work with division staff in electrical, plumbing, architecture, HVAC, and related areas.
- Complete projects with permits signed off and ready for sale by the end of the Spring semester or other established completion dates.
- Perform assignments in a variety of instructional settings and times, including evenings, weekends, online, off‑campus, and large group instruction classes as needed.
- Fulfill all duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122.
- Bachelor’s degree and two years of directly related professional experience.
- OR associate degree and six years of directly related professional experience.
- OR a valid California Community College credential.
- OR equivalent education and/or experience (requires equivalency).
- Demonstrated responsiveness to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
- Training and experience in residential home construction.
- Experience working with students of various cultural backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students and staff.
- Related work and professional experience.
- Recent experience working with African American, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students in classroom settings and an understanding of historical patterns of exclusion in higher education.
- Willingness to examine and re‑mediate instructional, relational, and classroom practices to more effectively engage and support racially minoritized students.
- Experience and skill with addressing equity issues in the classroom.
- Potential for contribution to institutional vitality and growth.
- Knowledge of the community college and its missions and goals.
Starting rates are $45.49 – $61.78 per hour for lecture and $38.67 – $52.55 per hour for lab. Sick leave accrual is based on assignment hours.
