Construction Instructor; Part-Time Faculty Pool Fresno City College

Construction Instructor (Part‑Time Faculty Pool) – Fresno City College, campus location Fresno City College. The ideal candidate shares FCC’s commitment to educating a racially and socioeconomically diverse student population.

• Complete training to become an NCCER certified instructor.
• Enter data into the NCCER data bank for each student.
• Deliver classroom instruction using the assigned textbook.
• Provide hands‑on lab instruction related to each textbook chapter.
• Manage materials and equipment orderly.
• Coordinate with onsite construction classes and instructors as required.
• Prepare all documents necessary to obtain permits prior to the beginning of a project.
• Supervise students during hands‑on projects.
• Coordinate the scheduling of subcontractors.
• Work with division staff in electrical, plumbing, architecture, HVAC, and related areas.
• Complete projects with permits signed off and ready for sale by the end of the Spring semester or other established completion dates.
• Perform assignments in a variety of instructional settings and times, including evenings, weekends, online, off‑campus, and large group instruction classes as needed.
• Fulfill all duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122.

• Bachelor’s degree and two years of directly related professional experience.
• OR associate degree and six years of directly related professional experience.
• OR a valid California Community College credential.
• OR equivalent education and/or experience (requires equivalency).
• Demonstrated responsiveness to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

• Training and experience in residential home construction.
• Experience working with students of various cultural backgrounds.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students and staff.
• Related work and professional experience.
• Recent experience working with African American, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students in classroom settings and an understanding of historical patterns of exclusion in higher education.
• Willingness to examine and re‑mediate instructional, relational, and classroom practices to more effectively engage and support racially minoritized students.
• Experience and skill with addressing equity issues in the classroom.
• Potential for contribution to institutional vitality and growth.
• Knowledge of the community college and its missions and goals.

Starting rates are $45.49 – $61.78 per hour for lecture and $38.67 – $52.55 per hour for lab. Sick leave accrual is based on assignment hours.
