Human Services Instructor (Part-Time Faculty Pool)

Location:

Fresno City College, Fresno, CA.

Essential Functions of the Position

The ideal candidate will share the college’s commitment to educating a racially and socioeconomically diverse student population and will provide instruction in Human Services across a variety of settings and times.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain standards of professional conduct and ethics and stay current in teaching human services.
  • Use a variety of pedagogies and instructional delivery systems, including innovative technology for face‑to‑face, online, and hybrid formats.
  • Communicate effectively with students.
  • Employ effective teaching methods and adhere to the institutionally approved curriculum and course outlines.
  • Evaluate student progress through tests, examinations, written assignments, oral responses, etc., consistent with course objectives.
  • Provide course syllabi to students.
  • Maintain classroom records in accordance with District Policy.
  • Submit all required student grading and evaluation reports in a timely manner.
  • Fulfilling other duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher and two years of directly related experience.
  • OR associate degree and six years of directly related experience.
  • OR a valid California Community College Credential.
  • OR equivalent education and experience (requires equivalency).
Desirable Qualifications
  • Masters of Social Work (MSW) or Master’s degree in psychology or sociology.
  • At least one year of experience in drug and alcohol abuse counseling.
  • Work and professional experience in related fields.
  • Experience with computer‑assisted instruction and instructional technologies.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to build relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administrators.
  • Ability to develop curriculum and focus on student learning outcomes.
  • Experience working with students from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Recent experience with African American, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students and understanding of historical exclusion patterns.
  • Willingness to examine and improve instructional, relational, and classroom practices to better support racially minoritized students.
  • Ability to address equity issues in the classroom.
  • Potential to contribute to institutional vitality and growth.
  • Knowledge of community college missions and goals.
Salary and Benefits

Starting rates: $45.49 – $61.78 for lecture, $38.67 – $52.55 for laboratory, and $38.30 – $52.05 for non‑instructional assignments. Sick leave accrual is based on assignment hours.
