Dental Assisting Instructor (Part-Time Faculty Pool) – Fresno City College
Fresno City College is seeking an equity-minded leader committed to student success to teach Dental Assisting courses on a part‑time basis. The candidate will collaborate with faculty, staff, and community partners to close equity gaps and support a diverse student population.
Responsibilities- Teach part‑time Dental Assisting courses as assigned, using a variety of pedagogies and integrating technology for face‑to‑face, online, and hybrid formats.
- Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff; provide course syllabi and maintain accurate classroom records.
- Evaluate student progress through tests, examinations, written assignments, and oral responses in line with course objectives.
- Turn in all required grading and evaluation reports timely; fulfill duties and responsibilities of instructors as described in Administrative Regulation 7122.
- Participate in culturally relevant professional development and collaborate with colleagues to enhance instruction and curriculum.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the department.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher with two years of directly related professional experience, or an Associate degree with six years of directly related professional experience.
- Current license in California as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) or immediate eligibility to obtain a California license.
- Certification in coronal polish, x‑ray, and sealants.
- Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community‑college students and a commitment to equity‑minded practice.
- Experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into all aspects of instruction.
- Recent experience teaching students from underrepresented groups and knowledge of how exclusion patterns affect participation and outcomes.
- Willingness to examine and adjust instructional practices to better support racially minoritized students.
- Strong collaboration skills with faculty and staff to improve student learning and success.
- Proficiency with computers and technologies that support high‑quality instruction.
- Knowledge of current assessment methods and materials; understanding of the community‑college mission and goals.
- Part‑time faculty are placed on step one (1) of the Part‑time Faculty Salary Schedule.
- Salary classification is based on education and experience as outlined in the Part‑time Faculty Salary Classifications.
- Sick leave accrual is based on assignment hours.
