Photography Instructor (Part-Time Faculty Pool)

Location:

Fresno City College, Fresno, CA.

Essential Functions of Position
  • Lecture and laboratory instruction in professional photography at the community college.
  • Conduct classes, lab maintenance and operation, equipment inventory, class preparation, office hours, and student evaluation and advisement.
  • Maintain professional conduct and ethics and stay current in teaching professional photography.
  • Perform duties in various instructional settings and times, including evenings, weekends, online or off‑campus, and large group instruction as needed.
  • Fulfill other duties required by Administrative Regulation 7122.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and two years of directly related professional experience.
  • Associate degree and six years of directly related professional experience.
  • Valid California Community College credential.
  • Equivalent education and/or experience (equivalency required).
  • Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Proficiency in traditional photographic processes, digital photography, studio lighting, photographic aesthetics and marketing.
  • Proficiency with Apple Mac and Microsoft Windows operating systems using Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Experience with Photoshop and Lightroom.
  • Willingness to maintain currency in professional photography and graphics.
  • Effective oral and written communication and ability to establish relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administration.
  • Ability to develop new and current curriculum focusing on student learning outcomes.
  • Community college teaching experience.
  • Recent experience working with African American, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students and understanding of historical exclusion patterns.
  • Willingness to examine and remediate instructional, relational, and classroom practices to better engage racially minoritized students.
  • Experience addressing equity issues in the classroom.
  • Potential to contribute to institutional vitality and growth.
  • Knowledge of the community college mission, goals and context.
Salary and Benefits

Starting rates: $45.49 – $61.78 for lecture, $38.67 – $52.55 for lab, and $38.30 – $52.05 for non‑instructional. Sick leave accrual based on assignment hours.
