Film Instructor (Part-Time Faculty Pool) Fresno City College

Fresno City College values equity‑minded educators who understand the diversity of its student body and strive to close equity gaps. This part‑time position leads student‑centered Film instruction and collaborates across the campus community.

• Teach a part‑time schedule of Film courses as assigned.
• Use diverse pedagogies, integrating technologies for face‑to‑face, online, and hybrid formats.
• Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
• Implement effective teaching methods aligned with approved curriculum outlines.
• Evaluate student progress through tests, examinations, assignments, and oral responses in accordance with course objectives.
• Provide course syllabi to students.
• Maintain classroom records per district policy.
• Submit grading and evaluation reports on time.
• Teach in various instructional settings and times as needed.
• Fulfill all duties as outlined in Administrative Regulation 7122.
• Other duties as assigned.

All candidates must demonstrate responsiveness to diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community‑college students.

• Master’s degree in Film/Cinema and Media Studies, Film, Television, and Media Studies, Drama/Theater, Mass Communication; or
• Bachelor’s degree in any of the above and a Master’s degree in Visual Studies, Media Studies, English, or Communication; or
• A valid California Community College Credential; or
• The equivalent education and/or experience (requires equivalency).

• Experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into responsibilities.
• Recent work with underrepresented student populations (African American, Asian/Pacific Islander, Latinx, Native American, etc.).
• Willingness to examine and remediate instructional, relational, and classroom practices to better engage racially minoritized students.
• Related professional experience.
• Experience mentoring diverse students, including those with disabilities.
• Experience facilitating multicultural communication with sensitivity.
• Experience working with under‑prepared, high‑need students.
• Collaborative work with faculty and staff to enhance instruction, curriculum, and student support.
• Computer and technology proficiency for high‑quality instruction.
• Effective communication skills with students and staff.
• Knowledge of current assessment methods.
• Understanding of the community college mission and goals.

• Newly hired part‑time faculty placed on Step 1 of the Part‑Time Faculty Salary Schedule.
• Salary classification based on education and experience as per the Part‑Time Faculty Salary Classifications.
• Sick leave accrual based on assignment hours.
