Graphic Communications Instructor (Part-Time) – Fresno City College, Fresno, CA

Fresno City College Campus

Provide instruction in Graphic Communications on the Fresno City College campus and/or at off‑site community campus locations. The instructor will lecture and lead laboratory instruction at any vocational level taught at the community college.

• Lecture and laboratory instruction in Graphic Communications at any vocational level taught at the community college.
• Conduct classes, maintain lab equipment, inventory, prepare classes, hold office hours, and evaluate and advise students.
• Maintain professional conduct and ethics and keep current in the teaching of graphic communications.
• Perform duties in a variety of instructional settings and times, including evening and/or weekend, online or off‑campus, and large group instruction as needed.
• Carry out additional duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122.

• A bachelor’s degree AND two years of directly related professional experience.
• An associate degree AND six years of directly related professional experience.
• A valid California Community College credential.
• The equivalent education and/or experience (requiring an equivalency).

• Proficiency in graphic aesthetics and marketing.
• Proficiency with Apple Mac and Microsoft Windows operating systems using Adobe Creative Cloud.
• Experience with Photoshop, Lightroom, InDesign, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Animate, After Effects, and Acrobat.
• Willingness to maintain currency in the field of graphics.
• Effective communication (oral and written) and ability to maintain relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administration.
• Ability to develop new and current curriculum focused on student learning outcomes.
• Community college teaching experience.
• Recent experience working with African American, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students and an understanding of how historical patterns of exclusion affect participation and outcomes.
• Willingness to examine and re‑mediate one’s instructional, relational, and classroom practices to more effectively engage and support racially minoritized students.
• Experience and skill with addressing issues of equity in the classroom.
• Potential for contribution to institutional vitality and growth.
• Knowledge of the community college and its missions and goals.

• Possession of a high school diploma or G.E.D. plus ten years of professional experience directly related to the faculty member’s assignment.

Starting rates are $45.49 – $61.78 for lecture and $38.67 – $52.55 for lab. Sick leave accrual is based on assignment hours.
