Instructional Aide/Paraprofessional
The Instructional Aide/Paraprofessional supports teachers and students in the classroom by assisting with instructional activities, classroom management, supervision, and student support services. This position helps create a safe, positive, and productive learning environment that promotes student success academically, socially, and behaviorally.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist teachers with daily classroom instruction and activities
- Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning concepts
- Support students with academic, behavioral, social, and emotional needs
- Assist with implementing accommodations and modifications for students as directed
- Monitor and supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, recess, assemblies, and other school settings
- Help maintain a safe, organized, and structured learning environment
- Prepare instructional materials, classroom resources, and technology for lessons
- Assist students with assignments, organization, and classroom routines
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student records and information
- Support positive student behavior and follow school discipline procedures
- Communicate effectively with teachers, staff, administrators, and students
- Assist with clerical duties such as copying, filing, grading, and attendance as assigned
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and required trainings
- Perform other duties as assigned by administration
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate degree or passing paraprofessional assessment preferred (based on district/state requirements)
- Experience working with children or in a school setting preferred
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff and students
- Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the school day
- Ability to lift and carry instructional materials or classroom supplies
- Ability to supervise students in various school environments
- Demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and punctuality
- Maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and families
- Support the school's mission, procedures, and expectations
- Promote a respectful, safe, and student-centered environment
