Job Description
Job Title: Contracted School Examiner/Psychologist
Job Summary:The Educational Examiner provides contracted psycho educational assessment and special education support services to K–12 school districts. The Educational Examiner conducts and interprets intellectual and educational assessments, collaborates with special education teachers and school-based teams throughout the evaluation process, and provides clear, comprehensive recommendations to support appropriate educational programming and services for students with disabilities. The Educational Examiner serves as a knowledgeable and supportive resource for school personnel and families, helping ensure that the special education evaluation and eligibility process is thorough, legally compliant, data- driven, and focused on the individual needs of each student.
Essential Duties
:
Psycho-educational Assessment
- Conduct individual intelligence and cognitive assessments for students in grades K–12 using standardized, norm-referenced assessment instruments.
- Administer, score, interpret, and document assessment results in accordance with standardized testing procedures and professional guidelines.
- Review student records, educational history, teacher input, classroom performance, and other relevant data as part of the evaluation process.
- Analyze assessment data to identify patterns of strengths and weaknesses and their potential impact on educational performance.
- Develop comprehensive evaluation reports that clearly communicate assessment results, interpretations, and educational implications.
- Provide data-based recommendations for instruction, interventions, accommodations, and educational programming when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate, confidential documentation related to student evaluations and special education records.
Evaluation Process Coordination
- Direct and coordinate the evaluation process in collaboration with special education teachers, interventionists, administrators, related service providers, and other members of the educational team.
- Provide guidance to special education teachers regarding appropriate assessment procedures, required documentation, timelines, and evaluation components.
- Assist school teams in identifying additional assessmen needs and determining appropriate evaluation measures.
- Review existing educational data and assist teams in determining whether additional evaluation is warranted.
- Monitor evaluation timelines and communicate with school personnel regarding outstanding components of the evaluation process.
- Ensure that assessment activities and documentation support applicable federal and state special education requirements.
Special Education Committee Support
- Participate in special education committee meetings, including eligibility and reevaluation meetings.
- Present assessment findings and explain results in clear, understandable language to school personnel and families.
- Collaborate with committee members in interpreting evaluation data and determining educational implications.
- Provide professional recommendations regarding eligibility, educational needs, and appropriate supports based on available data.
- Support the development of individualized educational recommendations based on student strengths, needs, and assessment findings.
Parent and Family Support Participat
- Serve as a knowledgeable and approachable resource for parents and guardians throughout the evaluation and special education process.
- Explain evaluation procedures, assessment results, eligibility considerations, and educational recommendations in language that families can readily understand.
- Encourage meaningful parent participation and collaboration in special education meetings.
- Respond professionally and compassionately to parent questions and concerns regarding evaluation results and the special education process.
- Help families understand how assessment information may be used to support their student's educational needs.
Professional Collaboration
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, administrators, special education personnel, related service providers, students, and families.
- Consult with school personnel regarding assessment findings and appropriate educational interventions.
- Provide professional expertise and consultation related to cognitive assessment, evaluation procedures, and special education decision-making.
- Maintain current knowledge of federal and state special education regulations, assessment practices, and educational evaluation procedures.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with applicable laws, regulations, and district policies governing student information and educational records.
