Position Overview /Duties
  • Participate in planning and development of overall hydropower program by recommending policy changes.
  • Direct expenditures.
  • Supervise power plant electricians, mechanics, maintenance workers and administrative personnel.
  • Establish performance objectives and rate performance.
  • Evaluate and interview candidates and make recommendation for selection.
  • Serve as local training coordinator for the Hydropower Training Program and direct hydro power trainees.
  • Plan, direct, and oversee the daily maintenance of a large complex multi-purpose power project.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities of power plant personnel with outside entities, all of which must work together to accomplish project operations and maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate activities for maintenance of high voltage power lines directly with transmission operators.
  • Frequently reschedule work and reassign substantial portions of workforce due to rapidly changing work situations and unpredictable or uncontrollable changes in operating and maintenance schedules, often upon little or no notice.

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD, Section 9905 to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Minimum Experience Requirement

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your resume that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to do the work of a Power Plant Maintenance Supervisor without more than normal supervision. This includes the ability to perform common maintenance and repair duties on equipment at hydroelectric generating plants, dams, steam plants, nuclear plants or switchyard.

  • This position requires that the incumbent possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position requires the ability to climb ladders and stairs in order to access all areas of the plant for inspection.
