About Dioxycle
Dioxycle is pioneering breakthrough carbon utilization technologies that convert industrial emissions into sustainable chemicals with unprecedented energy and cost efficiency. By displacing fossil fuels for the production of key chemicals, Dioxycle has the potential to ultimately reduce over 800 million tons of CO2 per year, representing over 2% of the world’s emissions.
At the core of our process is a novel "carbon electrolyzer", a machine capable of using just electricity and water to convert carbon emissions back into valuable everyday essential chemicals. Our team is innovating across chemical, mechanical and system engineering to turn carbon transformation into an economically feasible, industrial reality through this completely novel technological approach. Having completed our industrial‑scale electrolyzer prototype, we are now working with our chemical and downstream offtakers towards first‑of‑a‑kind plant deployment and subsequent commercial roll‑out.
We are supported by world-class funders including Bill-Gates-founded Breakthrough Energy Ventures, Lower carbon Capital and Gigascale Capital and have raised $40M to date. We operate from two centers in Paris and California (so whether you are passionate about outdoors or good food/art scenes, we have a location for you to join!)
Your MissionDioxycle is seeking a hands‑on Automation & Electrical Engineer to join our hardware team. You’ll be working directly on the control systems that operate our electrolyzer stacks - programming PLCs, maintaining wiring and instrumentation, and helping us build a scalable deployment architecture as we grow from 40 systems to many more.
This is a role for someone who loves being close to the hardware, is comfortable picking up new tools quickly, and wants to see the direct impact of their work on real physical systems. You’ll have real ownership over a critical part of our systems, at a moment when the team and the fleet are both growing fast. The problems are hard, the impact is direct, and the work is never boring.
Key Responsibilities- Program and maintain PLC-based control systems (Beckhoff) on our lab and field electrolyzer units. This covers lab-scale test units of small and medium size but also includes onsite industrial-scale pilots (that are so big you need to lift them with a crane)
- Wire, install, and troubleshoot sensors, actuators, and electrical panels
- Work with our team to configure new systems and contribute to how we standardize deployments going forward
- Collaborate with Dioxycle's software engineers to integrate HMI graphics with control logic
- Participate in the retrofitting of legacy systems with new-generation PLCs
- Occasionally interface with existing C-based code on older systems
- Diploma (e.g. DUT) or degree in electrical engineering, automation, or a related field - or equivalent hands‑on experience
- 3+ years of experience (internships/apprenticeships and personal projects all count, however, candidates with more experience are warmly encouraged to apply)
- Some exposure to PLC programming (Beckhoff, Rockwell, Siemens, or Schneider - any is fine; you’ll learn Beckhoff on the job)
- Comfort with at least one programming language (e.g. Structured Text, Python,
C) - Understanding of version control (Git) for collaborative code work
- Familiarity with electrical panel design and reading wiring diagrams
- Hands‑on experience with sensors, actuators, and basic electronics troubleshooting
- Comfortable using an oscilloscope and basic electronics measurement tools
Bonus: Experience with eCAD tools, and/or a background in industrial settings like packaging, robotics, or process control.
Mindset We Are Looking For- Exemplary work ethic and self‑driven attitude: you get things done fast and to a high standard and you don’t drop the ball
- Street‑smart: you don’t take no for an answer and will figure out a way to solve anything with the means available
- Commitment to the mission and ambition and to creating a kind, high‑performance and fun atmosphere at work (100% on‑site role)
- Passion for innovation and problem‑solving attitude
- Dedication to investing time and effort for the betterment of the…
