Job SummaryInitiates the design, development, execution and implementation of technology research projects. Investigates the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions and products. Plans and executes applied research.

- Continues to build knowledge of the company, processes and customers
- Performs a range of assignments related to job discipline
- Uses prescribed guidelines or policies in analyzing situations

- Conducts research, design, and development activities with the goal of developing new or improved products, processes, or services.
- Collaborates with internal manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers, designers and product specialists to optimize designs for manufacturability.
- Applies research theories, principles, and models when conducting experiments and research activities.
- Conducts market research, tracks projects, builds spreadsheets evaluating trade space, designs presentation slides, and executes business‑oriented tasks.
- Summarizes research results and communicates findings to internal and external bodies.
- Assesses the scope of research projects and ensures projects are on time and within budget.
- Develops technical documentation for all projects.
- Utilizes CAD (Computer Aided Design) or CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) systems to model new designs and produce detailed engineering drawings.
- Required education and experience:
Associate's Degree and 2‑4 years' experience - Discipline/Major:
Engineering degree required - Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Preferred education and experience:
Bachelor's Degree - Knowledge, skills & abilities:
Product innovation, product intelligence, product research, project scoping, quantitative research, research and development, research documentation, oral and written communication skills, critical thinking, analytical thinking.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
- Requires regular movement throughout GD‑OTS facilities.
- Work primarily in a climate‑controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
Up to 25% travel likely.
