Position SummaryThe Wastewater Operator is responsible for the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of the center’s wastewater treatment systems. This role ensures compliance with environmental regulations, protects public health, and supports the center’s mission of providing a safe and sustainable living and learning environment.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain wastewater treatment facilities, including pumps, motors, valves, and related equipment
- Monitor treatment processes, perform routine inspections, and record operational data
- Collect and analyze water samples to ensure compliance with state and federal environmental standards
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on wastewater systems
- Respond to system malfunctions, alarms, and emergencies in a timely manner
- Maintain accurate logs, reports, and documentation for regulatory compliance
- Collaborate with center staff and external agencies to ensure safe and efficient operations
- Support sustainability initiatives and promote environmental stewardship within the center
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training in wastewater operations preferred
- Valid Arkansas Wastewater Operator License (Class I or higher)
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in wastewater treatment operations
- Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, safety procedures, and environmental regulations
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Effective communication and recordkeeping skills
- Experience in residential or educational facility operations
- Familiarity with computerized monitoring systems (SCADA)
- Commitment to safety and environmental compliance
