Our Client is a well-established engineering consulting firm seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join its growing team in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The firm provides innovative engineering solutions to public and private sector clients, with a strong focus on municipal infrastructure and community development.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated civil engineering professional to work on diverse infrastructure projects while collaborating with project managers, engineers, surveyors, designers, technicians, contractors, and other multidisciplinary professionals.

Compensation$90,000 – $125,000 per year
Key Responsibilities Civil Engineering & Infrastructure Design- Lead and support the design and development of municipal infrastructure projects, including:
- Water distribution systems
- Wastewater and sanitary sewer systems
- Stormwater drainage systems
- Roadway and transportation infrastructure
- Prepare engineering studies, preliminary designs, final designs, construction plans, technical specifications, and permitting documents.
- Develop engineering calculations, layouts, plans, details, and technical documentation in accordance with applicable engineering standards.
- Review project requirements and develop practical, cost-effective engineering solutions.
- Ensure engineering designs and project deliverables meet applicable local, state, and federal requirements.
- Identify technical challenges and provide appropriate engineering recommendations.
- Coordinate project activities with project managers, engineers, surveyors, designers, technicians, contractors, municipal representatives, and other stakeholders.
- Assist with project planning, budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, scope management, and work planning.
- Monitor project progress and assist in ensuring projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.
- Maintain accurate project records, engineering documentation, schedules, and project files throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage multiple project assignments and priorities while maintaining quality and meeting established deadlines.
- Provide engineering and technical support during construction activities.
- Participate in construction administration and project coordination activities.
- Review shop drawings, material submittals, Requests for Information (RFIs), pay applications, change orders, and other construction documentation.
- Assist with resolving construction-related technical issues and field conditions.
- Coordinate with contractors and project stakeholders to support successful project execution.
- Monitor construction progress and communicate project-related issues to appropriate project personnel.
- Support communication with municipal clients and participate in project meetings, presentations, and discussions.
- Coordinate with municipal agencies, regulatory authorities, permitting agencies, and funding organizations.
- Assist with obtaining and maintaining required project permits and approvals.
- Communicate project requirements, engineering recommendations, and technical findings clearly to clients and project stakeholders.
- Ensure project activities and deliverables comply with applicable regulatory requirements, engineering standards, and client expectations.
