SUMMARYThe Direct Support Professional works on an interdisciplinary team that delivers superior quality of service and provides appropriate activities in a safe and healthy environment within the home and community setting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Assists clients in basic living skills and daily personal tasks (shower, dressing, housekeeping, grocery shopping, meal preparation, financial budgeting).
- Provides transportation to and from activities and appointments; a valid Arkansas driver’s license is required.
- Maintains effective communication via facility logbook, staff meetings, etc. regarding clients’ needs and progress toward their plan of care.
- Accurately completes all FCC‑required documentation (behavioral reports, incident reports, complaint forms, personal care worksheets, requisitions, maintenance forms, progress reports, monthly attendance logs, and other documentation as needed).
- Follows and completes necessary documentation and maintenance of records for FTA vehicles, maintaining mileage/billing forms in compliance with Medicaid guidelines.
- Reports incidents and/or emergencies to supervisors or delegated authorities immediately.
- Aids in formulation, management, revision, and follow‑through of the client’s Plan of Care.
- Follows medication management guidelines and assists in monitoring and documenting those procedures.
- Organizes and carries out recreational activities for clients.
- Models appropriate behavior, appearance, and actions consistent with FCC’s dress code.
- Treats clients and their families with dignity and respect, representing FCC’s mission.
- Maintains FCC facilities and grounds, keeping them clean, orderly, and functional.
- Maintains FCC vehicles, ensuring cleanliness and preventive maintenance.
- Attends required training and continues education.
- Provides proof of liability insurance and keeps it current.
- May undergo periodic driving tests and demonstrate proficiency operating a motor vehicle, including passenger vans. Employees may also occasionally use personal vehicles, maintaining adequate liability coverage.
- Opens as a safety‑sensitive position.
- High school diploma or GED; or two or more years of experience working with developmentally disabled individuals.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Strong communication skills; ability to read, comprehend, and write simple correspondence.
- Mathematical skills—addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, ratios, percentages, and graph interpretation.
- Reasoning ability to follow instructions and interpret various forms of directions.
- Physical capability to stand, walk, reach, sit, lift up to 100 pounds; vision abilities including close, color, depth perception.
- Follow the Code of Conduct and Compliance Investigation Procedures.
- Maintain consumers’ progress notes daily or as needed.
- Maintain consumers’ records weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly as required by funding sources.
The noise level is usually moderate.
