In this role, we stand prepared to equip you with the right personal protective equipment (PPE) and are ready to assist as you care for our vulnerable population of seniors and adults with disabilities.
What You’ll Do and Who You Are:The good news is that your training will teach you everything you need to know to succeed on the job. You will provide assistance with activities of daily living such as personal hygiene, ambulation, eating, dressing, light housekeeping, and other household chores. You will also assist with meal preparation when required.
Typical Responsibilities:- Assisting with the change of ostomy appliances
- Reinforcement of non‑sterile dressings
- Assisting with devices for daily living (cane, walker, wheelchair, lift)
- Assisting with prescribed range‑of‑motion exercises
- Assisting with self‑administered simple urine tests for sugar, acetone, or albumin (may not interpret results)
- Measuring and preparing special diets
- Measuring intake and output
- Taking vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure)
- Application of an external (condom‑type) catheter
- Assisting with application of arm sling, arm splint, or leg splint
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- At least six months of experience as a Home Health Aide (HHA) or Personal Care Assistant (PCA) in homes or facilities, and successful completion of a state‑approved Nurse Aide or Home Health Aide or Personal Care Assistant course
- Completion of a competency evaluation that meets state licensing law for home health agencies
- Sympathetic attitude toward caring for the sick and ability to handle job demands
- Current CPR certificate is recommended
- Meets requirements for employees providing direct patient care
- Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English as needed for the job
- Valid driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle for work or reliable transportation
