Job Objective/Summary
The Scheduler is responsible for coordinating and scheduling procedures in a timely and efficient manner. This role serves as a key point of contact for patients, providers, and clinical staff, ensuring accurate scheduling, proper documentation, and excellent customer service while supporting overall departmental operations.
Responsibilities- Schedule radiology and imaging appointments (e.g., X‑ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound) accurately and efficiently.
- Obtain prior authorizations for inpatient, observation and swing beds.
- Obtain prior authorizations for clinic and ER.
- Verify patient demographics, insurance information, and physician orders prior to scheduling.
- Ensure appropriate preparation instructions are communicated clearly to patients.
- Coordinate with radiology technologists and clinical staff to optimize scheduling and workflow.
- Obtain and enter necessary authorizations and referrals in compliance with payer requirements.
- Answer incoming calls and respond to scheduling inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Reschedule or cancel appointments as needed while maintaining accurate records.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Monitor scheduling work queues and follow up on incomplete or pending orders.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, providers, and staff.
A high school diploma or equivalent preferred. Must have the ability to read, write, take verbal instruction and perform basic arithmetic.
