The Direct Support Professional works on an interdisciplinary team that delivers superior quality of service and provides appropriate activities in a safe and healthy environment within the home and community setting.
Responsibilities- Assist clients with basic living skills and daily personal tasks including showers, dressing, housekeeping, grocery shopping, meal preparation, and financial budgeting.
- Provide transportation to and from activities and appointments, requiring a valid Arkansas driver’s license.
- Maintain communication via facility logbook, staff meetings, and other appropriate means regarding clients’ needs and progress toward their plan of care by the end of shift.
- Accurately complete all required documentation (Behavioral Reports, Incident Reports, Complaint Forms, Personal Care Work Sheets, Requisition s, Maintenance Forms, Progress Reports, Monthly Attendance Logs, and other required documentation).
- Follow and complete necessary documentation and maintenance of records for FTA vehicles and maintain mileage/billing forms in compliance with Medicaid guidelines.
- Report incidents and emergencies to supervisors immediately. This is a safety‑sensitive position.
- Assist in the development, management, revision and follow-through of the client’s Plan of Care to ensure treatment is carried out and safety is prioritized.
- Follow proper medication management guidelines and assist in monitoring and documentation of these procedures.
- Organize and carry out recreational activities for clients.
- Model appropriate behavior, appearance and dress code and treat clients and families with dignity and respect.
- Assist in maintenance of FCC facilities, grounds, and vehicles, ensuring cleanliness and preventive maintenance.
- Attend necessary training and continuing education.
- Provide proof of liability insurance and keep current.
- May be required to undergo periodic driving tests and demonstrate proficiency in operating a motor vehicle, including passenger vans. Employees may also be required to drive personal vehicles at times; such vehicles must maintain adequate liability coverage.
- Maintain confidentiality of all information received regarding Friendship Community Care, Inc. and the clients in compliance with the Non‑Disclosure Policy and HIPAA.
- High school diploma or GED, or two or more years of experience working with developmentally disabled individuals.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to read, comprehend simple instructions, and write simple correspondence.
- Ability to present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations.
- Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, rate, ratio, percentage).
- Computer skills for basic calculations and data entry.
- Reasoning ability to apply common sense to instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, reach, sit, lift up to 100 pounds, and use hands frequently.
- Vision requirements: close vision, color vision, depth perception.
Regular use of hands, standing, walking, reaching, sitting, lifting up to 100 pounds, and required vision capabilities.
