About the Role
We have a current opening for a Payroll Specialist and are actively reviewing applications.
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing payroll for both hourly and salary employees, maintaining payroll reports and records and addressing employee inquiries on payroll‑related matters working with and through the human resources group for the Augusta, GA and Florence, KY locations.
Main Responsibilities- Ensure accurate and timely processing and recording of time and pay for multi‑state payroll which includes 700+ employees in a fast‑paced environment while meeting critical deadlines.
- Responsible for data completeness in the timekeeping system and for data being properly interfaced into the payroll system.
- Compile, balance, and ensure compliance requirements are met for additional earnings submissions, time corrections, and rate overrides submitted from multiple locations and validate results in the payroll system.
- Review payroll reports to confirm data is balanced with timekeeping and department/base submission reports to ensure accuracy and identify any out‑of‑balance conditions needing correction.
- Process unemployment claims through a third‑party vendor.
- Provide support for external and internal audits related to pay items.
- Support payroll projects, process improvement initiatives and other duties as assigned.
Associates degree along with previous experience in a similar role preferred, or 3+ years of relevant experience required.
Strong organizational skills, communication skills, and attention to detail.
Strong math aptitude, Excel skills, and problem‑solving skills.
Previous experience with a large payroll system; UKG, KRONOS and SAP a plus.
Ability to manage conflicting priorities and workload pressure of strict deadlines.
Must be able to meet critical deadlines and adapt to circumstances beyond control.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
