this position is located on the grounds of the arkansas state veterans cemetery in birdeye, arkansas.

the maintenance specialist position is responsible for daily checks of the facilities to ensure cleanliness. They also prepare the daily services by lowering the flags, raising the service flags at the committal shelter, cleaning the committal shelter, opening the grave locations by using heavy equipment, placing headstones, burying caskets and cremations, setting niche covers, placing temporary markers. When the weather allows and is necessary, they also mow, weed eat, treat, and clean the grounds.

The specialist also maintains the vehicles and the equipment. They prepare routine maintenance on the equipment and make repairs when necessary.

the maintenance specialist provides essential support in managing the day-to-day maintenance operations within a facility or building complex. This role is focused on coordinating routine maintenance activities, processing work orders, and assisting in scheduling repairs and inspections. It is designed for individuals at the early stages of their maintenance management career who possess a foundational understanding of facility operations and are eager to learn and grow under the guidance of more senior team members.

• receive, log, and prioritize maintenance requests from internal teams or building occupants.
• assist in scheduling and tracking routine inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance tasks.
• coordinate with maintenance personnel and external vendors to ensure timely completion of work orders.
• manage calendars and maintenance logs to keep operations running on schedule.
• conduct initial troubleshooting of minor facility issues and upscale complex problems as needed.
• provide on-site support for small-scale maintenance tasks under supervision.
• maintain accurate records of maintenance requests, completed repairs, and scheduled activities.
• update databases or computerized maintenance management systems with relevant information.
• adhere to health and safety guidelines and ensure that all work is performed safely.
• assist with periodic safety checks and contribute to maintaining a hazard-free work environment.

• familiarity with basic tools and equipment, such as hammers, drills, and hand tools.
