Job Summary
As Unit Director, you will oversee the overall cleanliness, sanitation, and security of the assigned buildings. You will coordinate all janitorial personnel activities, supervise supervisors and hourly staff, and ensure customer satisfaction through high quality standards while maintaining a safe and equitable environment. Responsibilities include assigning duties, inspecting work, investigating complaints, ensuring equipment maintenance, managing supplies inventory, training, disciplining staff, and acting as liaison between building occupants and staff.
- Communicate across shifts to ensure tasks are completed.
- Train staff in janitorial methods, procedures, and equipment operation.
- Issue supplies and equipment to workers to ensure quality and timely service delivery.
- Perform daily inspections and follow through on all assignments.
- Cross‑train and develop personnel for multiple positions.
- Maintain weekly staff reports and inspection logs.
- Conduct weekly staff meetings to review task completion and upcoming projects.
- Secure building after work completion.
- Guide projects to ensure timely completion within budget.
- Report budgetary issues.
- College degree preferred.
- 1–2 years supervising housekeeping or service‑related personnel with high customer/client contact.
- Strong work ethic, initiative, and commitment to quality and customer service.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong problem‑solving abilities in both one‑on‑one and group contexts.
- Ability to engage and motivate staff.
- Understanding of budgeting processes and profit/loss concepts.
- Excellent administrative, organizational, and time‑management skills.
- Physical ability to work with heavy cleaning equipment.
- Valid driver’s license for safe operation of company vehicles.
