Technical Department Manager Maintenance

Übernimm ownership for one of the most technically challenging areas in modern logistics. As technical department manager maintenance, you will be responsible for the safety, stability, and performance of a defined technical area in a highly automated environment – with direct influence on the operation and the team behind it. You will lead team leaders and technicians across several shifts, manage maintenance and troubleshooting, and lead optimization projects that reduce downtime and continuously develop our systems.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Abteilungs-Ownership:
  Overall responsibility for a defined technical area (e.g., sorter/conveyor technology, pack/afe or building technology) – availability, stability, and compliance included
• Team Leadership & Development:
  Leadership of team leaders and technicians – performance management, coaching, skill planning, and talent development
• Safety Culture:
  Proactively setting and ensuring safety standards (LOTO, SOPs, audits, compliance) in daily operations
• Maintenance Strategy:
  Management of preventive, condition-based (CBM) and reactive measures in your department – PM quality, backlog, and shift handovers included
• Troubleshooting & Escalation Management:
  Quick prioritization and decision-making, sustainable error correction through RCA/5-Why – fewer unplanned shutdowns
• KPI-based Management:
  Analysis of relevant key figures (OEE, MTTR, PM-compliance, backlog) and derivation of concrete action plans
• Optimization Projects:
  Leadership of internal projects to improve availability, safety, and efficiency – from planning to success measurement
• Service Provider Coordination:
  Management of external service companies including safety briefings, quality acceptances, and resource planning
• Interface Management:
  Close cooperation with operations, WHS/safety, engineering, and controls for the stabilization and further development of your department

A Day in the Life

Your day begins with clarity: KPIs, open tickets, PM plan, backlog, risks – and a clear focus for your department. Shift Review:
Analyze handover, set priorities, align team. On-Floor Leadership:
Walkarounds, safety checks, coaching – close to the action, close to the team. Troubleshooting:
Coordinate disruptions, involve stakeholders, ensure sustainable fixes. Prevention & Planning:
Secure PM quality, drive CBM approaches, focus resources on the biggest loss drivers. Projects & Improvements:
Lead optimization projects that measurably increase availability and efficiency. Service Providers & Partners:
Manage external assignments, conduct acceptances, ensure documentation. Reporting: KPI reviews, status updates, coordination with internal partners.

The role is on-site in the logistics center. Depending on the deployment plan, work in a shift model including weekends and nights may be required.
