Job Description

Director of Support Services – Helena-West Helena Public School District

Reports To: Executive Director of Operations

Supervises: Directly supervises all aspects of the maintenance, facilities, transportation departments

Terms Of Employment: The contract length will be 240 days

Salary: The salary schedule for the Director of Support Services will be $50,482.50 to $60,482.50 and will be a 240- day contract. Raises will be based upon job evaluation and performance in a range from 1% to 3%. Any evaluations that require disciplinary actions or improvement plans will not receive a raise. Raises will also be contingent on fiscal sustainability of the district.

Evaluation: Based on local district policy and Arkansas Department of Education guidelines, and performed by the assistant superintendent.

Job Goal: The Director of Support Services will endeavor to oversee facilities and support staff to provide a healthy and safe environment conducive for student learning to enhance the overall effectiveness of the Helena-West Helena Public School District.

Performance Responsibilities
  • Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policies and procedures
  • Administratively assists the Executive Director of Operations.
  • Assists the Executive Director of Operations in the initiatives in building and maintenance of facilities.
  • Provides leadership in supervision of maintenance, transportation, and facilities.
  • Supervises and evaluates support services personnel – maintenance, transportation, facilities.
  • Works along with support services assistant director to provide a healthy, safe environment conducive to student learning.
  • Oversees transportation, maintenance, and facilities.
  • Oversees all maintenance to active and passive systems within the facility.
  • Oversees the maintenance of the bus transportation fleet including all school vehicles.
  • Responsible for purchasing all maintenance, transportation, and facility supplies.
  • Plans, organizes, and supervises programs associated with support service departments.
  • Assists the Executive Director of Operations in preparing and keeping zoning maps, contractual records, building permits, facility plans, and crisis plans.
  • Assists in the development of the above plans and contracts.
  • Assists in evaluating the efficiency of current facilities and management of construction projects.
  • Strives to build relationships between the District and community officials; construction managers; and state, county, and city officials.
  • Ensures that the District meets statutory and regulatory requirements for the city and state.
  • Knows and understands city and state requirements for facility construction and maintenance.
  • Assists in maintaining legal contracts and permits pertaining to facilities.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
  • State administrator’s license
  • Teaching experience
  • Administrative experience
  • CDL Required
