Forklift/Material handler will be used for a variety of things throughout the factory. Will be the main forklift/tractor operator of the factory and will deliver boats/materials to different departments when required. Will be in charge of organization of the back parking lot. Will offload trucks. Will assist in loading of trucks with boats for shipping.
Job Duties and Responsibilities- Report to production manager for different activities
- Dump hoppers full of scrap for welding.
- Dump hoppers full of scrap for the parts department.
- Dump plate scrap from router tables.
- Will be involved with opening/closing/locking gates at start/end of shift.
- Will offload all trucks that do not pull up directly to the loading dock, for example, AR trucks, Ryerson trucks, etc.
- Will load/unload/organize extrusion racks and will work for/with welding lead for this process.
- Will load/unload/organize plate racks and will work for/with parts department lead for this process.
- Will clean up around extrusion racks and/or work with welding lead to ensure people that get items from the racks are cleaning up as well.
- Maintain all organization of boats/trailers in the back parking lot. Unpainted boats, painted boats, QC’ed boats, trailers, etc.
- Maintain all organization of parking lot in general – skids, trash, parking lot lines/numbers. Aiding in keeping an eye on trash dumpsters, recycling dumpsters, etc. and ensuring communication to purchasing is seamless when they are full.
- Offloading and assembly of trailers after delivery. Placing them where they need to go.
- Bringing all boats/trailers in/out of the factory when required to different departments.
- Arrange consoles outside of the factory, ensuring they are brought into the factory when required, on a skid that is clean.
- Will not have direct access to the warehouse unless let in by someone in the warehouse on an occasion-by occasion basis.
- Work with maintenance to ensure tractor and forklifts are being maintained, as you will be the primary operator of all of these machines.
- Exhibit trustworthiness and honesty.
- Read a tape measure, understand fractions, simple math-addition, subtraction, multiplication, division.
- Capable of using basic hand tools.
- Maintain connection and communication among other employees and management.
- Attention to detail is required to ensure high quality and safety.
- Lead by example; build a team that can rely on each other and can function if the supervisor is not there. Train each employee in your department to do your job if you are not there. Be competitive with the rest of the factory and do better than yesterday every day. Be a role model for others: have a positive attitude, keep your area and tools clean and organized, encourage your team.
Functions
- Capable of performing each essential duty satisfactorily in a fast-paced industrial environment.
- Capable of standing all day with no sitting down on the job; repetitive use of hands and arms; ability to walk, climb, balance, twist, turn, grasp, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. May need to work intermittently from a ladder.
- Required to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, or more collectively, frequently. Capable of lifting 50-75 pounds over the shoulder and outward frequently.
- Ability to work in a cold and hot work environment.
- Great socialization and communication with management, other departments, and coworkers.
- Crane & forklift training and all required certifications.
- High school or GED graduate preferred.
