Georgia-Pacific Production Operator – Gurdon Plywood Facility
We manufacture pine plywood panels and siding that are ideal for residential and light commercial construction such as subflooring, wall and roof sheathing, and concrete formwork.
- $20.00 per hour
- $1.50 shift differential for night shift
- Opportunity for higher compensation based on skills and contribution to plant performance
- Candidates must be flexible to work any shift (first, second, or third) including overtime, holidays, and weekends.
- Orientation will be on the day shift; you will start on your permanent shift after orientation.
- The plant operates on a points‑based attendance program.
1 GP Lane
What You Will Do- Pull and lift plywood, panels, or scraps that could be up to 25 pounds.
- Assemble veneer cores by layering sheets according to specified patterns and project requirements.
- Assist in clean‑up, operation, and maintenance of production equipment, including machine operation and forklift operation.
- Adhere to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures while proactively seeking potential safety hazards, including wearing required safety equipment.
- Read and comprehend written instructions as required to complete assigned tasks.
- Work cooperatively and productively with supervisors, co‑workers, and other associates to complete tasks, meet safety, production, and quality goals.
- Cross‑train on various machines to increase operational knowledge.
- Work any hours, including a variety of shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Prior experience in manufacturing, military, industrial, farming, agriculture, landscaping, carpentry, mechanical, or construction environment.
- Experience using a smartphone, computer, or tablet.
- At least two years or more of consistent experience in manufacturing, military, industrial, farming, agriculture, landscaping, carpentry, mechanical, or construction environment.
- Experience driving and operating a forklift or other mobile equipment (e.g., bobcats, cranes).
- Experience working in wood products (lumber, plywood, or timber industry).
- One year of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Walk on elevated catwalks over 15 feet high to perform daily duties.
- Work in a non‑climate‑controlled mill, with dust, noise, and temperatures that can be higher in summer and lower in winter.
- Perform tasks such as lifting 50 pounds, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and/or pulling for up to 12 hours a day.
