What We Are Looking For
Operators are responsible for the safe, efficient and quality‑conscious processing of scrap steel. Our Operators assure that the work is performed consistently, meeting or exceeding expectations of the supervisor as well as published policies and procedures.
What You Will Do- Assist in material transfer and storage.
- Maintain assigned equipment or tools.
- Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns.
- Complete appropriate documentation and paperwork.
- Perform all work in compliance with company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Attend daily/weekly safety meetings.
- Administer general preventative maintenance activities, repairs, and housekeeping tasks.
- Perform any other terminal functions as trained, requested, and instructed by supervision.
- High school graduate, GED, or equivalent.
- 3–5 years of driving experience (CDL not required).
- Valid driver license.
- Ability to accept supervision and work effectively and cooperatively with others.
- Must possess safety training and security certification as required by customers and all Kinder Morgan locations.
- Ability to deal with evolving operating conditions with a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to focus attention and follow work rules.
- Demonstrate aptitude to execute and maintain necessary records.
- Successful completion of a background check as well as post‑offer and random drug screens.
- Must be willing to work all shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Must be available to respond to call‑outs as assigned.
- Work is performed in a dusty environment and all types of temperature/weather conditions.
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration.
- Frequent exposure to high, precarious places and risk of electrical shock.
- Noise level is usually loud.
- Must be available for assignments at multiple berths within a 12‑mile radius.
- Requires sitting, standing, using hands to finger, handle, or feel; reaching with hands and arms; and talking or hearing.
- Must meet physical requirements including walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing ladders and stairs, negotiating uneven surfaces, and frequently lifting or moving up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work at heights up to 30 feet.
- Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, peripheral and depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
