Job Description The Kinetic Group is a world leader in the design, manufacturing, and distribution of small caliber ammunition under the iconic brands Remington, Federal Premium, CCI, Speer, Fiocchi, HEVI and B&P. As a Skill Bridge Machine Shop Trainee, you will gain hands-on experience in fundamental machining, equipment operation, safety procedures, and maintenance practices in a production‑support environment. You will work under the guidance of experienced trainers and supervisors. This Skill Bridge opportunity prepares transitioning service members for a career in precision manufacturing, with hands-on training in CNC machining, blueprint interpretation, and quality control.

This position is only open to transitioning service members and is based out of our Lonoke, AR office.

What you’ll do:

Machine Shop Operations & Safety Learn and apply safety procedures for operating machine shop equipment, including lathes, milling machines, belt sanders, pedestal grinders, saws, and drill presses.

Understand proper raw material handling and safe workflow practices within the shop environment.

Equipment Setup & Proper Operation Assist with the basic setup, alignment, and operation of machine shop tools.

Follow standard operating procedures to ensure accurate and consistent machining results.

Troubleshooting & Repair Support troubleshooting efforts for mechanical failures in machine parts used by production areas.

Participate in repairing or fabricating replacement components as needed.

Materials & Tools Learn to identify and work with various types of metals and materials used in machining applications.

Use precision measuring and setup tools, such as calipers, micrometers, Rockwell hardness testers, and dial indicators, to verify component accuracy.

Joining & Fabrication Processes Gain introductory experience in soldering, brazing, and basic welding techniques.

Assist in simple fabrication tasks as assigned.

Heat Treating & Cutting Tools Understand the metal heat‑treating process and how it affects material properties.

Learn types and proper use of cutting tools for machining operations.

Shop Standards & Preventative Maintenance Maintain a clean and organized work environment that supports safe and efficient operations.

Assist with preventative maintenance tasks on machine shop equipment and learn basic maintenance repair practices.

Experience you bring:

Active-duty service member eligible for DoD Skill Bridge.

Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn technical skills

Attention to detail and precision

Strong safety mindset

Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team Interest in machining, manufacturing, or maintenance careers

Monday-Friday, Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the trainee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; extreme heat; explosives and vibration. Eye protection in the form of approved safety glasses with side shields or approved safety goggles is required. Approved steel-toe safety shoes are required. The trainee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; toxic or caustic chemicals and extreme cold.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and requires hearing protection to be worn in the work area.
